Title of the paper: The real meaning of "Gulliver's Travels" (a deep analysis of the novel)
Author or topic: Jonathan Swift
Abstract or summary of the research in not more than 100 to max. 150 words:
First
of all, I will say that the novel which I am trying to work in my research
is " Gulliver's Travels" written by Jonathan Swift.
The
main characteristic of this book is that we are dealing with a satire "hidden"
by a sort of adventures.
What
I will try to do in my work is uncover the real messages of these adventures,
analysing the symbologism inside them.
By
this way, we will discover that the author's purpose is to refer to important
things such as politics or human being using a science-fiction story.
So,
in every travel, Swift will show us a sort of values which ones he feels
identified.
But
the question that I want to explain in my final work is not only a simple
explanation of the values mentioned above but also the reasons that motivates
the author to do this kind of work.
So,
I will refer basicaly to his biography in which we will see his controversial
personality and how deeply the circunstances of the century affect him.
Because
of this, Swift use words to attack hardly the things that he consider inapropiated
in his society and for doing it he uses the irony.
And
it is this irony the reason that motivates me to make this research, because
behind simple words ( such as the Swift ones), there is a symbolical world
that we should discover or at least try to discover.
