Subject : # 14159 Curso Monográfico de literatura inglesa – Shakespeare in Performance  Grupo B

Student´s name : Ayala Ruiz, Alberto

Title of the paper : Shakespeare through Performance

Author or topic : William Shakespeare

Abstract : In this course, we’ve studied, read and analyzed five comedies written by William Shakespeare (The Comedy of Errors, The Taming of the Shrew, Twelfth Night, The Merchant of Venice and Midsummer Night’s Dream). Related to these comedies, we all have dealt with several topics and have analyzed them, and later, we’ve handed in four papers (two individual and two collective), apart from offering oral presentations to talk about those papers and taking two reading tests to show our knowledge about the comedies we have read. Regarding the collective papers, I’ve been a member of the Planning Team , and, besides, I’ve been part of the paper named “ Characterization in Shakespearean Comedies ”, this being the final document after an outline carried out before. Regarding the individual papers, the first I had to deal with was related to Hortensio , one of the characters of the comedy “The Taming of the Shrew”, and the second one was named “Selfishness & Selflessness in Shakespearean Comedies ”, related to the selfish and selfless behaviours that some Shakespearean characters show. In this website, I’ve compiled the papers I’ve composed during the semester so as to show the development of the course.

Auto-evaluation: Honestly, I think I deserve a “Sobresaliente”, since I think I’ve accomplished the vast majority of requirements and goals proposed at the beginning of the course. I’ve attended all the classes, my papers have been evaluated in a positive way (the individual and collective ones), I had good marks in the tests, the presentations have been successful and satisfactory, and finally, I have developed this website, which has taken its time and dedication. All this shows a compromise and dedication towards an interesting subject dealing with one of the most important (if not the most important one) writers of all times: William Shakespeare.
