A JOURNAL OF THE
PLAGUE YEARDaniel Defoe.
Reading this book you will be able to observe that Daniel Defoe is able to give an account that has the impression of being an historical account. Real facts and fiction; great deal of imagination, of invented details. It is an interesting creation that combines the fiction with the real thing, the likely, fictitious and real detail, because it is a narration that is presented as the writings of an anonymous character (we only know his initials) who survived the plague in 1664. This date is a date in which Defoe only was 4 years old, so he could not be consciuos of those facts, but he is able to write the story as likely facts, combining them with invented facts to make an atypical narration. It is a story where we can observe a likely detail in the narration and the recreation of the British life in that terrible year.
