Abstract : In the first paper, I have analized a poem of Lord Byron called "She Walks in Beauty". Firstly, I have made a little introduction about the author and the hypothetical reasons he had to write the poem, also a bit of his biography to know which kind of man he was. Later, I analyzed the poem in a deep way: its rhyme, meter, meaning, vocabulary used, what the author wanted to transmit us through the poem... Secondly I ralated the poem with a moment of the author's life, when it was written and why; that is to say, the historical context. Later, the influence Byron has in our society nowadays and if today we ave something similar to his time. Finally, I ha given the conclusion I took after work in this poem together with my personal opinion about the item treated.
The second paper deals with Victorian period and changes happened in that time, to be more specific, changes in women's point of view. Firstly I will introduce the paper, what I am going to develop. Later I will explain what was Victorian era to see the difference with the romanticism and which was the main factor that helped to this change. After the introduction to Victorian era and changes it supposed I also will explain the cahnges produced in the treatment of women, how they were considered then in difference with romanticism. Secondly, I will outline the importance of women in art during this period; they were the central part in most of paintings, poems... and of course, a woman is the main character in Rossetti's "The Blessed Damozel" I will analyze in a deep way later. Finally, I also will give a conclusion and my personal point of view.
Auto-evaluation: In this semester poetry's subject has been quite difficult for me because I had never analyzed a poem in a deep way or contrasted authors so attend classes and practices have been essential becuase they helped me to do the paprs, amybe they are not as good as the teache hoped but I had to do a big effort to composed them; therefore I think the mark I deserve is a 6, also because appart from the papers I attended all the classes.
