Aristotle ( 384-322 B.C. ) philosopher and scientific greek. He shared with Plato and Socratres the

distinction of being one of the most important philosophers of antiquity. He was bor in Estagira

(Macedonia ), he was the son of a doctor of the royal court,Aristotle moved to Athens when he was

seventeen years old to study in Plato's Academy. He stayed in that city almost for twenty years, first

as a student and finally as a teacher.

    After Plato's death, in 347 B.C., Aristotle went to Assos, an Asia Minor's city in which a friend of

him was governing, Hermias, Aristotle was his counselor, besides he married to a nephew and adoptive

daughter, Pitia. After Hermias was arrested and executed by the Persians in 345 B.C. Aristotle moved

to Pella, Macedonian's capital, where he  became the teacher of the king younger son, Alexandre, who

for history would be known as Alexandre III the Great. In 335 B.C., when Alexandre acceded to the

throne, Aristotle went back to Athens and stablished his own school: Lyceum.

    Due to that the majority of the debates were done while teachers and students walked around the

Lyceum, this centre was known as a Peripathetic school.When Alexandre died in 323 B.C. a strong

antimacedonian feeling born in Athens, so that Aristotle went to a relatives' property in Calcis, in

Eubea island, where he died the following year.
