Change of values…

Cyberpunk also exemplifies a shift in the importance of some pillars of our society. The "sanctity of life" and the "miracle of birth" are memories of the past, and any trace of religion and belief in anything above is gone. Life can now be enhanced and bettered through symbiosis with machines, not through increasing the openness of one's mind. Funnily enough, death also looses its importance, in many occasions in Cyberpunk the topic of "life after death" is repeated. It's not really life after death, it's more like being trapped in one's own vicious circle. The minds belonging to dead bodies still "survive" as entities in the Cyberspace, which eliminates most of the ideals and concepts that we nowadays consider in our religious and moral ideals.
