Personal Opinion
First
of all I should say that with this second paper I had my first contact with
hyper fiction and everything related to this “new” era of literature. At first,
I was lazy about breaking up with the classic literature and sitting in front
of the screen. I thought I would be bored and I imagined myself reading stupid
tales. Fortunately, I didn’t have to search so much, I discovered Milorad Pavic and I proved that I
was wrong with my first feelings about this assignment and hyper fiction.
The
Glass Snail is a fresh tale of two lonely citizens of Belgrade. Both of them
like stealing, but they do not commit serious thefts, they just have fun
picking up cigarettes, or stupid things.
It is interesting to see how Milorad Pavic creates crossroads that unite his characters
throughout his fiction.
During
my reading I could imagine every single detail of Pavic’s
image of his characters, I imagined the beauty of Miss
Hatshepsut and the deep blue eyes of Senenmut. It was
like watching a film.
Reading
Milorad Pavic’s hyper
fiction is like watching a film, everything seems to be connected in this story
and the characters are very interested. It is curious, but using fewer words
while creating literature, does not mean that a text isn’t full of sense! But, being critical, I could say that both endings he offers us
are bitter and estrange.
I
have to thank Milorad Pavic
for letting me discover that Hatshepsut was the first pharaoh woman in Egypt,
and it seems that she had a romance, and maybe a daughter, with her architect Sen-nen-mut.
Finally,
I would encourage someone to create a short film of this wonderful hyper
fiction, it perfectly could be done! If someone needs an actress, take me into
account!
