The paper that I am going to write about is going to be centred in the play of Nigel Williams which title is “class enemy”. It is a drama in two acts and it was represented for first time in London, in 1978. The plot of this play is formed by special characters because they are ununderestood boys who are in a class and they are always waiting for a teacher ; they have been bad people with the other teachers that taught them and thy have fighted with them and they have been very violent with all the teachers. This boys are alone and are very conflictive because their families have been broken. Their families are broken and it make that they have problems where they go. The main character of the play is Iron ; He is a hard boy who make everybody does that he wants. He is the leader of the group. The other boys of the group are secondary but important because they show us that they are not so bad boys. They are: Snatch, Racks, Sweetheart, Skylight and Master. Both of them are characteristic, because they are marginated. They are waiting for a teacher that they are not going to have. All the teachers that they have had have ran away because they are like criminals. While they are waiting in the class and the class is destroyed Iron has an idea, he thinks that they can teach themselves. In this way we can see that they are very good people and we can see also that they have some illusions. All the play is the same , they are waiting, and sweetheart is always looking to the corridor because he has the illusion to the end. All the teachers and the people that come is going to go to the other classrooms. At the end, they realise that they are alone and nobody is going to go with them. No teacher, no person is going to be with them in their life. The place where we can see the play is all the time the class. Is a little repetitive, but it makes us to be more in the play. From my point of view , I think , that this play is a very good play because the young people now are very difficult. This play shows the real life and the worse part of the world. I think that this play is a little unreal in the sense that nobody goes to see them but the other parts are very real and compressive. |
