The evolution of the plays of Herold Printer

First of all I have to say that I am going to speak about the evolution of the plays of Harold Printer and his work. We can say that they are always with the same style and we can point out characteristics like the brevity of his plays and the clarity of the vocabulary and of the use of the language.

The language in his plays is an every-day English. This English can be understood by everybody without problems because it is a speech that everybody uses day by day. The author that we are studying wants that current people understand him and his plays. He wants the people to learn something of him.

Another characteristic in Harold Printer's plays is that always analyses the characters and their behaviour and not the society like all the authors I have studied.

Harold Printer is an author that wants that the people, who are seeing his plays, stop thinking about their own personality, because we are always thinking about us.

In the plays I have read , I have realised that Harold Printer is preoccupied about us , because people is not friendly and it is a big problem that involves the material society.

In the play party time we can read in this part:

Terry (to dusty):

What did you say?

Dusty:

I said I don't know what to believe.

Terry:

You don't have to believe.

Terry:

You don't have to believe anything. You just have to shut up and mind your own business, how many times do I have to tell you??

We can see that for instance, in the first line Terry is not hearing Dusty, and when Terry speaks at last, we can realise that he is convincing Dusty to do things in his own favour.

This is that Harold Printer does not like about people and he wants, I think, to change our behaviour.

All the people in the party are speaking about the new cub and only about the material things. By contrast Melissa criticise all this world and she says that this club is going to have new ideas, and she says that it is going to be based on moral characteristics.

At the end of the play it appears a character that anybody knows who is, he is jimmy, the death brother of Justy. And he says the following sentences:

Jimmy:

Then, everything is quiet, I hear a heartbeat.

It is probably not my heatbeat. It is probably someone else's heartbeat.

What am I??

I think printer is representing the immaterial part of the world and he is saying us that we are anything and that at the end we are only an anime. I think he is representing the death and the life together and he is making us to think about this.

I have chosen party time as an example in this work because I think it is the most representative on Harold Printer's plays.

In my opinion Harold Printer does not change his style because he enjoys doing this plays. Also, because he wants that the people learn another style of life.
