The importance of being Earnest

Moncrieff, the play that I am going to analyze is one of Oscar Wilde.

The title of this play is “the importance of being Earnest...

The dramatis personae of this play would be the following: John Worthing, who is the main character.

Gwendolyn Fairfax, Algernon and Bunbury.

The plot of this play is based in the identity of the people and their sincerity. Also the things that people do and the thing that they can arrive say to get that they want.

John is a man who lives in the country side and he says that he has a brother to go to the city to see a woman (Gwendolyn). This woman thinks that john is Earnest and the people of the country side think that the brother of john is Earnest too.

Gwendolyn has a cousin, whose name is Algernon, and he is friend of john. Algernon is a very cynic person and says that he has a friend whose name is Bunbuery and it is not true.

The conflict starts when Algernon decides to go to the country side to see the woman of john. And he says that he is the brother of John.

All the lies make the problem very big and the problem will be solved saying the truth.

This is a curiously play because all of the plays that I have read are of problems of life or of problems of couples etc...

This is a good play, from my point of view, because normally people is lying about their identity, people shy about their own identity.

What Oscar Wilde wants to explain in this play is that if we put the truth always in front of us, we are going to win lots of things and we only are going to loose the problems that involves to lie.
