Waiting for Godot

I am going to write about a play that we have studied in class; its name is waiting for Godot. It was written by Samuel Beckett in 1954 in London. It is a tragicomedy in two acts. And it is written in prose.

On the first hand, I am going to write about the dramatis personae, the description of the characters. The main characters are Vladimir and Estragon; they are two homes-less those are waiting for somebody. They are waiting for Godot but he never come.

Then there are two characters that are special in the play too, they are Pozzo and Lucky. They appear twice but they are different characters in these acts.

Then there is a boy who comes with news of Godot and finally we can speak about Godot but he is a character who never appears and we do not know anything about him.

The play is about two homes-less, Vladimir and Estragon. We find them at the beginning of the play in a way where there is only a tree. This tree has not got any leaf. They are waiting for Godot but he never arrives.

Estragon is a person that we can suppose who is absent- minded, because he never remembers why they are there.

Really they have very incoherent conversations because the theatre that we are seeing is in this way, it has no sense. But, we can say that they have some real conversations where they think and they listen the one to the other.

When they are waiting for Godot, they meet two men; they are Pozzo and Lucky, they find them twice, but the first time Pozzo is a rich man and lucky his servant and Pozzo have Lucky fastened like a dog but he is a man. Pozzo this time gives to the home-less bones to help them. (And it is the ironical part because they are hungry and they need meat not bones).

The second time that they meet with Pozzo and Lucky they are not the same people, because Pozzo is blind and Lucky is dumb.

Vladimir does not understand anything. Before they arrive the second time, a boy arrives saying that Godot is not going to come, that he is going to com tomorrow evening. They returned to the tree the next day and somebody has fight to Estragon. The boy come another time and says that Godot in not going to come here today. Who is Godot?

The place where moves the play is a simple way that is empty;

There is only a sad tree that then has some leafs. We can not say anything about the place because it is not special. Is the street, where they wait, and they are all the time waiting.

The time of the play is the present but we can feel that it pass very slowly because they do not move their selves and also because they are always speaking about the same.

If we speaks about the style resorts we can say that the language is not formal because they are home-less and they have no formation. The case of Pozzo in the fist act he does he has a formal language and it is demonstrated when we compare with the other characters.

To finish the commentary we have to say that in this play the author wants to show us the society and now people is with this type of people that have no home. Pozo, Vladimir and Estragon Show this part: Pozzo: the society and the other two: the part discriminated.

In my opinion this play is interesting and strange at the time because almost always you are lost.

I think it is a good play because it shows the sad world of the people like Vladimir and Stragon,because they are always waiting something that is not going to arrive.

I like this play to because shows the mocking part of this reality. And of course the illusion of the arrived of this thing that you are always waitig for.
