Title of the paper : The female voice in Victorian Poetry: Representations of women in Art
Author or
topic : Robert Browning, Dante Gabriel Rossetti, Lord Alfred Tennyson, Christina
Rossetti and Elisabeth Barret Browning.
Abstract : This
paper is the analysis of the female voice in the Victorian poetry, and it shows
the different representations that women have suffered during this period.
Reading and analyzing some poems of the main author s of that time, I have
understood the role of the women of the Victorian Time, how they were over a
standard mind and how they fight against this situation. In my opinion, the
women of the Victorian Era were suppressed and they were educated in what can
be called “the right standard”, but some women, as Elisabeth Barret Browning or
Christina Rossetti, used their poetry to represent the injustices and inequalities
women suffered. We can attach to these poets that the pen is a great fighter,
better than any other weapon.
Auto- evaluation: I have
read a lot of poems and other sources of information to obtain a good
interpretation of the author’s minds. Moreover, I have analyzed every text
looking for any clue and any expression of the female voice in order to reach
my aim: to understand and explain the female voice during the Victorian Time
and the different representations women suffered. I think I have made the best
that I can make in these subject.
