Title of the paper : Samuel Butler online research

Author or topic : Butler, Samuel (1835-1902)

Abstract :

At translations you'll find the two works translated by S. Butler, The Odyssey and The Iliad. Then for curiosity you can look at the Samuel Butler photographic collection (1891-1899). I never thought that this science fiction author of Erewhon would be interested in photography. Furthermore, you can read all about S. Butler's life at Samuel Butler: A Sketch by Henry Festing Jones. About the articles from the New York Times, I was disappointed that I couldn't copy them into my web page due to the images becoming blurred after I tried to copy them using Photoshop. The articles talk about the notebooks of S. Butler (Gosse on Butler, The note-books of Samuel Butler), his most famous works like  Erewhon or The way of all fresh, a review of Henry Festing Jones work, and finally a review of S. Butler's opinion of science, a report of his death in 1902 and an announcement of his posthumous work Essays on life, art and Science. Besides this you can see the first part of the research on my classmate's website, Esther Garcia, or in my section of  links. There you'll find biographies, e-texts of his works and a list of his major works and articles written by him.

Auto-evaluation: Notable 7.

It was a good experience to elaborate this Samuel Butler's website with both the good and bad aspects. I learned many things involving the Internet like how to do hyperlinks, upload a website, etc. Also I discovered how to quote and cite online resources through the ''The Owl at Purdue'',''Menlo School Library'' and ''Diana Hacker'' using the Chicago System style.

However, not everything turned out well. I had a hard time searching for information due to not knowing specific websites like Project Gutenberg or The University of Adelaide e-books. Then regarding the online citing, I had to know the sponsor or date that the website was made which I  found in ''Allwhois'' which helped me in most cases.

In conclusion, I managed to get online information about Samuel Butler and order it as well as possible and I hope students and the general public find this website to be useful.
