This article is talking about an artist who makes a differnet kind of art. What he does is to record some movies in order to make his own movie. In this movie he shows what is happening on and around the screen. But we all know that  the copyright law is a very dangerous thing today and this is going to be Mr Routson´s problem since many people considers that what he is making is not an art but an illegal action. This is not a problem that affects only to artists such as filmmakers, writers, etc...This is a problem that affects all of us.For instance, we are supposed to create a website for this subject, so we have to be very careful not to use words or images that are protected under copyright law.
Copyright is a form of protection provided by the laws of the United States (title 17, U.S. Code) to the authors of "original works of authorship," including literary, dramatic, musical, artistic, and certain other intellectual works. So,  the author that I am working with might have had a similar problem to the one that Mr Routson has.
Some consider that the concept of copyright protection is important in order to promote the  progress of science and art works while other consider that the importance of the copyright lays under the benefits you can have.In my opinion, it is important to promote the progress of art and science, but I also think that the copyright law shouldn't be so strict because sometimes many people breaks this law without being aware of what he/she is doing.
Breaking this law is about to become a crime and I think it is normal because nowadays many people are recording films,CDs,etc.. in order to sell them cheaper than usual and companies which sell them legally are losing lots of money. That's why this companies are working very hard to do whatever it is necessary to achieve its aim: the breaking of the copyrigth becoming a crime.
