SUBJECTIVE PART: A brief commentary about some of his works
 
 
 

In the major part of Wilde’s works we can notice that the objetive of the author is that his texts have a moral with the purpose of doing the spectator reflects and extracts a general idea. The important is to transmit a message . His works describe the upper classes of the Victorian society.Lady Windermere’s Fan and The importance of Being Earnest are two comedies on which he wants to stick out the hypocresy introducing characters to which he has exaggerated in virtues and defects.

The characters of Oscar Wilde are archetyipes , they aren’t real. Each one represants a virtue, a defect. In fact, he wanted to represent this unreal characters by a "Comedy of manners". He wanted to instruet the spectators but delighting at the same time and I think that he got it. Wilde was a big expert in the use of the word, paradox and dominion of the language.

Lady Windermere’s Fan is an entertainig comedy on which the characters of upper class have a good time in the big parties of the epoch. We can find luxury , entertainment, good manners, with problems of relations. Lady Windermere discover that the woman to whom her husband hid mysteriosly, was her mother, a modern woman who didn’t want to feel as a mother.

Another work I want to detach is The Importance of Being Earnest. In my opinion, the nonsensical objective of Cecily and Gwendoleen who want to marry with someone whose name was Earnest, is very infantile but funny because we can observe the perpicacity of Jack and Algermon with the purpose of being called Earnest to give the girl of their dreams.

Lord Arthur Savile’s crime and Canterville’s Ghost ar tales that they are very easy to understand. The reading of this short narrations shows a lot of sensibility and delicacy that it goes towards all kind of readers.

I want to detach, one of his works wrote in prison: The Ballad of Reading Goal. Oscar Wilde works as a mere observer of a dramatic situation. We can observe an author that feels a lot the misfortunes of the others.This Short book is full of auguish, tension, desperation, sadnees. In my opinion, If you want to suffer, you have choosen the best narration.

His creations, tales, novels, comedies, poems are actually in the mind of people. I think that with his style, the literature changed a lot.
