Plot

A charming young girl with literary ambition but no ability took her stories to the Editor, telling him that she was engaged to an invalid curate, and that it was necessary for her to support them both by her pen. The sympathetic Editor endeavored to teach her to write, but with small success. The dying curate was emphatic in his disapproval of novels and pledged Mary to give up her attempt to write them.
