Abstract:

Hélène Cixous is a very important French feminist writer, theorist, poet, literary critic, rhetorician, playwright and philosopher. Her life is very interesting, as she was born in Algeria and lived through World War II. She worried about many themes such as women’s cause or fight for life that were reflected in her works.

She is recognized as the woman who developed the feminist writing and became part of the Poststructuralist Feminism. Her influences which inspired Hélène’s works were Joyce, Freud and Derrida between others. Her major works are The laugh of Medusa and Sorties. Nowadays, she is a professor at the University of Paris VIII.
