Abstract or summary of the research in not more than 100 to max. 150 words:

In this paper, I would like to reflect how English writers are influenced directly or indirectly in their work by the realities of the twentieth century society.

Furthermore, I pretend to emphasize the ways that social factors influenced the writers creations to the point of triggering an evolution of their way of thinking which can be traced in their work. To develop all this points I will focus on some of the great writers such as: Henry James, T.S. Eliot, Conrad or James Joyce among others.

Finally I will talk about the audience’s reactions to these literary creations and the obligation of an objective study of the past to show how can be understood by their original audiences.
