CHARACTERS
PAM
She is the daughter of Harry and Mary; she is 23 years old,
she is brown with light eyes and a small mouth. She is short and thin.
LEN
He is 20 years old, he is in
love of Pam she live with her because he rent a room.
HARRY
He is 50 years old, he is Mary’s husband and and Pam’s father. He discuss with his wife frecuently.
MARY
She is 53 years old, she is
Harry’s husband and Pam’s mother. She has curly hair and she is short and fat.
FRED
He is 20 years old. He is selfish. He is the father
of the Pam’s son but is his murderer too.
Other secundary characters
are: Pete, Mike, Collin and Barry.
SUMMARY
Len is in love of Pam and they begin to live in Pam’s
house because he rent a room. Pam meet Fred and they make love and she stay pregnant
so that she want to Len go out of her house but he do not want and stay there.
Pam give birth a child and Len help her with the child because Fred do not do
case. One day Fred kill his son and he is jailed.
Harry thinks that his wife is disloyal with Len but
Len is in love of Pam. And the have a bad life because she live in same house.
SPACE
Most of the scenes take place in the
living room and others happen in a bar in a cell of Fred.
TIME
The play happen some years
because Pam have a child and Fred is jailed and he go out of the prison.
LANGUAGE
The language differs from the
language in the other place. Edward Bond has written the play in lower class
English. MIKE. What time they bury the bugger? PETE. Couldn’t
tell yer. COLIN. Don’ yer
wan’a go?
PETE. Leave off! ‘Oo’s goin’
a make me time up? (p. 28). This is more difficult to read because if you are a
native you cannot very well.
PERSONAL
OPINION
The play is very interesting although treat some topics unpleasant.
This topic about young people can be reflect our
generation in some aspects.
