Title of the paper : "The Taming of the Shrew: A Character Analysis of Katherine"
Author or topic : Shakespeare, William
Abstract :
This analysis is based on the belief that Katherine chose to be tamed because she fell in love with Petruchio. She was not deceived nor was she broken down by Petruchio's supposed taming. She chose to change her violent, shrewish behaviour because she realized that her life could be more enjoyable with Petruchio as her husband. Her final speech, in which many believe she admits that she has been tamed, is really an ironic satire and a way for Katherine to dominate her sister with a vengeance.
Auto-evaluation:
I believe that I deserve a notable mark because in my written work I not only incorporated ideas from class and ideas of others, but also ideas of my own. I tried to read the plays and understand them from an Elizabethan perspective and then relate them to modern times. Shakespeare's works are able to transcend time and for this reason I believe that they are applicable to modern problems. The problem that interested me most what the problem of gender inequality. To sum up, I believe that I deserve a good make because of my critical analysis of the plays and the essays that I have written. I would believe myself deserving of sobresaliente if I had participated more in class. I attended class with regularity and tried to speak up, but I did not contribute as much as I could have during class periods.
