INTRODUCTION

The hypertext I have to analyze is “Damascene”. It’s a story of a man (Lord Nikolich) who wants to build for his daughter (Miss Attilia) a church to marry in and a place to live in with her fiancé. Therefore, they take the two best builders of that time (John the Ladder and John the Damascene). The hypertext tells us everything that father and daughter have to do to obtain this and the difficulties they have to face.

To start I will say that I didn’t choose neither this author nor this hypertext. Firstly I had chosen Edward Falco and his hypertext "Charmin' Cleary" because I read the work that former students of Hypertext did before. The indecent assault from a teacher to a student and the different points of view of people concerning this seemed me a very interesting and current topic to work on. But the website where I read the hypertext, stopped to work correctly so I decided to change it. Finally I chose Milorad Pavic and his hypertext “Damascene” because I had already analyzed his hypertext “The Glass Snail”, and it seemed to me interesting to analyze another hypertext from the same author. Besides, when I started to read it, I saw that it was very similar to the other concerning structure and links, and that attracted me even more. All this contributed to decide this author and this hypertext.

My work constitutes an analysis as complete as possible about the hypertext I read. Afterwards I’ll make a conclusion where I’ll explain my point of view about the hypertext.
