CONCLUSION

After working on the different aspects of this hypertext poem we can conclude that the author's objective is just to entertain. The poem body results in an unconnected piece of writing. In the author's words: "...different aspects of male identity cut out of magazines and the reader becomes lost in the permutation."  The phrases could have been chosen on purpose, as well as the images attached to them, to make the reader feel on a particular way. Dane is not a poet but he's an artist, and "artists work" is to take out the feelings of the public.

In fact, Dane Watkins is a graphic designer, a multimedia artist, and his works usually are computer animations. His other published hypertext, also a poem, "Help", is mostly made of images and sounds, and a few words appear.

"Him" is a piece of digital art, a mix of components (most of them literary) that create an aesthetic work.
