I aimed to collect information about William Makepeace Thackeray which could be useful and easy-to-understand for any student of English philology.
I will start with an introduction which explains why I have chosen this author, from what perspective I am reflecting his biography,the difficulties I found, and why the Wikipedia ,
Victorian web (an overview, biography), academic.brooklyn.cuny.edu and literaryhistory.com are the main sources of information I am relying on.
I will follow up by providing a link to the Gutenberg Project, where the reader can find most of Thackeray’s works in a free, online version.
This author was very famous for his aphorisms, so here is a list of his best-known phrases.
Finally, these are the links to the William Makepeace Thackeray Group, a forum where you can interact with other Thackeray scholars and ask on-line questions; and also to his picture gallery.
As a conclusion I am offering some of my personal remarks about Thackeray and his “Vanity Fair”.
