TIME
As far as temporary marks concerned, we can not find a large
variety of them. There is not shown the year in which the story is developing
or the season, etc. So due to the plot of the story it could had happened in
any time. But taking the reference of the technological machines, it obviously
has happened at present.
It's
hard to say how much time elapses during the story,
because although all the texts alleged to occur in parallel, each text has a
different plot with a different time of develop.
So, since I can not do a thorough analysis of the general time of
the hypertext, I´m going to explain the time elapsed in each chapter.
In the case of the first chapter we can
deduce that the time elapsed since the beginning of the story with the bought
of the hospital in
Completely different is the time elapsed in the second chapter. It
starts with the bought of the rainforest of New Zealand of Young-Li Kim, when
Young-Li Jr. was still a child and was at school, and ends with the arresting
of Young-Li Jr. when he was at University. So obviously the time occurred is higher,
maybe pass five years.
The time happened in the third chapter is also
long but not as long as the second. At the end of the chapter the narrator is
telling that Darren has had a good year, and then tells the story of a specific
day. It also mentioned a fact happened the year before. So at least the time
passed is a year.
The fourth
and the fifth chapters
are the shortest of the text. They only last one day. In the fourth the time
elapsed is since Robert goes to work and know the death of his friend until he
also dead in a bar. In the fifth the time occurred is between
