Analysis of the chapter 4
The
name of this chapter is “growing to become a male”. Here, the author
focuses on the trouble of many people have: the feelings to want become men
when your body says that you are not it.
This
ambiguity is reflected in the first image, where the plant has both genders.
The solutions comes when Jamison decide set aside the androgynous routine and
grow to become a man, as it´s said in the title.
The
second photography, like the first, is in black and white but contains an image
more humane: the motherhood of her and his lesbian couple, as a result of a donor insemination.
