Analysis of the chapter 8
The name of this
chapter is “preparing the skin for manhood”. The chapter shows that the
physiological rite is completed, as the psychological was made since he was a
child, but look has to change. For that reason, he prepare the skin to be like
a man . He use nuts and leaves to scraped his skin, because changing his skin
the masculinity will appear.
There are 2 images in black and white in which
we can observe how Jamison just don´t exist, but James.
Firstly, he wears the mask with leaves and the
nuts on his hands(as sign of end the rite)and later, we see how facial hair is
in and how he shave him.
It´s a better example to see that “As the tree grows so will the man”
