Arbor Erecta is not a Hypertext

This statement is based on this fragment of the interview made by amgar2@alumni.uv.es to Sonya Rapoport:

4.Amparo:  Why you were decided to write hypertexts?
Which were your reasons?
Sonya:  Because there is text in the artwork, does not mean it is in
hypertext format.
I consider hypertext more interactive in that it gives options to
direct the flow. the flow of the narrative. All the information in my
piece is expected to be accessed.

8.Amparo:  If you had to recommend some author or his works, Which would be?
Sonya:  The author is in the credits, Gilbert Herdt, Professor of Anthropology.

Thank you, Sonya.
Amparo Garcés

Regards,
Sonya Rapoport

Statement of the author

Arbor Erecta (Sonya  Rapoport)1998

web-based book; diskette, computer installation

Contemporary attitudes, human concerns, current events, and scientific material are interwoven metaphorically and humorously into my interactive artworks - be they artist's books, web-based sites or installations. I create within the context of comparitive cultures and other time periods an aesthetic event that reflects our own culture and its place in history”.
