English Poetry of the 19^th and 20^th century:

FIRST PAPER

Title of the paper : "The Lamb", the importance of religion in William Blake

Author or topic : Blake, William

Abstract : I am going to analyze the poem “the lamb” which was written by William Blake. In my paper I will make a full analysis of the poem commenting all the aspects that we must have into consideration. Throughout the poem, we will see the importance of the religion in William Blake and the position of the poet according to the social, political and historical context. To make a full analysis, it will be necessary to speak about the influence of the poem in today world. Finally, there’s my own opinion and what is the message that William Blake wanted to transmit.

SECOND PAPER

Title of the paper : Percy Shelley and Matthew Arnold; a criticism of their society

Author or topic : Percy Bysshe, Shelley and Arnold, Matthew

Abstract : In this second paper, the work has consisted in choosing two poems; one of the Romanticism and the other of the Victorian Era. I have made an individual analysis of each one and after I have compared them according to the features of each period. My elected poets are Shelley and Arnold and the poems I have chosen are related with the society they lived in. I will compare both authors according to their social context.

Auto-evaluation: It has been interesting doing both papers because it is a good way to understand and learn more about the subject we are studying, in this case, poetry. Now, I know all the features of both periods and I know the topics which were important for each poet. I don’t ask for a good mark, I just want a fear mark. It would be perhaps unfair if I fell this subject because I have make a big effort making both papers, above all in the second one which I consider more difficult than the first.
