CONCLUSION
Nowadays many
people believe that computers have only one purpose which
is to buy, consume via e-bay, and so on.
But that is only one of many options. The fact is that
the major part of these people don´t like reading on the PC´s screen because
they prefer read on the bus, in bed, etc.
It is
true that there are books that somewhat resemble hypertexts because when you
read them you can choice one-way or another to follow up the reading, but it
results a bit problematic. Book up and down. To do so directly read hypertext
in a computer, which is much easier to click on the keywords you want to, and
automatically you can continue.
Hypertexts
are other form to understand literature but it is literature too. At the same
time that there are horrible printed books there are terrible
hypertexts (too long or just incomprehensible)
Two
readers could navigate through the story in different ways, selecting different
characters or events as important as they want to, and get two different perceptions
of the same basic events, each of which feels like a complete story.
In
this case, the author
uses the hypertext medium in a more limited form. It is easy to move from one
webpage to the next that fact is far from the
disorientation which is present in the majority of hypertexts we've studied in
class.
Sorrell´s story has a linear plot, the links
from the main page lead only to pages that describe past actions to know the
different points of view of the characters. That´s why the statement "choose
your own adventure" related with hypertexts is limited in "The Heist”.
Speaking about
the content, we can say that the main plot of the book is very interesting as I
said before, and the mix of dreams, memories and true story give emotion to the
book.
Finally, I only have to say that it has been
the first time I read this kind of literature and I enjoyed it. I recommend reading hypertexts, especially for
those who have an unconditional love for the printed books because they can
discover another option and open their minds.
