GISSING'S WRITINGS: A CHRONOLOGICAL LIST

This is not a complete Gissing bibliography, but it lists all his published novels and most of his
stories and non-fiction in chronological order. It was prepared for his book Gissing: A Life in
Books (OUP, 1982)  by John Halperin, Centennial Professor of English at Vanderbilt University.
I am most grateful for his permission to republish it here. I am bringing it up to date for the period
since 1982.

Prof. Halperin took the information about the stories from the bibliographical article by Pierre
Coustillas, "Gissing's Short Stories: A Bibliography," English Literature in Transition, 7, 2 (June
1964).
