Bianca in The Taming of the Shrew:

Introduction:

The aim of this essay is to provide an analysis of the character of Bianca in the comedy The Taming of the Shrew. The play was written by William Shakespeare around 1592, in London and it deals with the theme of marriage, about how women should behave as wives in Elizabethan times.

Bianca is not the main character of the play, is Katherine, but she is a very interesting character, she is the sister of the “shrew” and her evolution along the play shows that, although in Elizabethan times women were oppressed by men and had very little rights, they were able to manipulate men in their own benefit in the same way than nowadays.
