ABSTRACT
        The aim of my paper will be to get an approach about Henry Fielding, considered as one of the authors who contributed to create the English Novel in the eighteenth century.
         To do this I am going to go through not only his life and work , but also his historical environment
and how this is shown in his novels, more specificaly in Tom Jones which will be the subject of my work, to analize Fielding's literary features and also is to try to find out if the adaptation to the cinema respected the mood of criticism of the novel.
