      In this work I´m going to deal with Burney´s novel Evelina (1778). I will try to make a study about her time and style making comparisons with other authors who shared the same century.

    Fanny Burney´s real strength was in social comedy, and here she derives from Fielding.  Her work represents the feminization of Fielding´s art. What Burney did was to fuse part of the heritage of Richardson with that of Fielding.  Her theme is always a young girl´s impressions of the social world.

    My study will also mention some other Burney´s novels such as Cecilia, Camilla and The Wanderer.
