Shakespearefs Window

@

As we might see by the design and structure of this website, we are dealing again with a homepage elaborated on by a private user who does not belong to any official organization. Furthermore, the creator of the site just calls himself Katsuo. There is no surname and no way for the visitor to find out whether this is a nickname or not, and also there is no section that gives us any information about him/her. What is clear by the simple design of this web, is that Katsuo (meaning tuna fish) attempted to build a page with a structure easy to grasp for any web surfer, and had the intention to offer as much information about Shakespeare as possible. While in gShakespearefs Foresth the reader could see the intention of the creator to transmit his love and passion for Shakespeare, trying to find ways to make people find themselves closer to the Shakespearean world, this site seems to try to gather as much information as possible about Shakespearefs work and about the plays and activities that are or have been taking place in Japan.

gShakespearefs Windowh is structured mainly in three sections. First, we have one index on the top with links to many sections within the site. The index words are written in English, so any one can guess the contents (home, info, bbs, Othello, beginner, cinema, book, tour, fortune, memories, diary, review, link and web ring). Secondly, there is a similar index column on the upper left part of the homepage, which shares some of the links from the top index, but which as other new sections such as STAGE INFO and LOMO. This last one is collection of pictures taken with a small camera. However this section is not related to Shakespeare in any way. And finally, we have another group of links accompanied by pictures in the central part of this website which contains mainly topic based web logs, information about events on Shakespeare done in the past few months and announcements about future productions or books releases.

Let me comment upon the comment of some links of interest. The INFO is a guide about the Shakespearefs plays that will be staged in the near future. Here we can see plays that go from professional big theater companies to amateur ones. In the Beginner section there are all sorts of information that include an introduction about the playwright and his work, a quiz to test the visitor knowledge on the author and some short articles on curiosities about the British author. To mention a few of them, curiosities such as the fact that the kidsf game Othello comes from the name of the Shakespearefs famous play, or the fact that the well known tune used for weddings was originally used in Mendelssohnfs opera g Midsummer Nightfs Dreamh, or the fact that some lines from The Beatles songs are quotations from gKing Learh. The TOUR section is a collection of commented pictures on a virtual tour on the birthplace of Shakespeare, the Globe Theater and other related famous spots in England. The OTHELLO section does not deal with the play as we might have imagined, but it is an online game where the visitor can actually play the Othello game. The FORTUNE section is an interesting fortunetelling experiment were after filling in some data about yourself the website tells you which would be the closest Shakespearean character to you and the reasons why.
