Identification : 4596 A - Narrativa en Lengua Inglesa II
Student's
name: Jose Fco. Saiz Molina
Title
of the paper: Worlds, Cultures and
Narrative in Motion
Author
or topic: HANIF KUREISHI (1954 - )
My proyect deals with the study of a pheriperal author because his
hybrid condition can offer us a good example of Current English Narrative.
You have to bear in mind that he comes from an Anglo-Pakistani background
, he is a Londoner , and he read Philosophy at King´s College. A
very complex combination that , propably , have modified or will modify
the Old English Literary Tradition.
First of all , I am going to pay attention to his maturing process as a
writer by analysing his first novel ( The Buddha of Suburbia - 1990
) and his last one ( Intimacy - 1998 ) . Mainly, from a new
approach to Narrative called "Literary Anthropology" , but without excluding
other approaches or ideas in relation to Narrative.
Secondly , I am going to offer you an objective description of him by searching
on the WWW and by using the biographical research written by Kenneth C.
Kaleta.
Finally , I want to link this author to the current topic of postcolonialism
in English Narrative. In this sense , I will provide you with some "current"
links on this topic and we could have further discussions or some "virtual
classes" on it.
