TEMPORAL ASPECT
We can distinguish between various types
of temporal aspects:
1.-Related to Children’s Time.
2.-Related to the time the author spent
doing the poem.
3.-Related to the time I have spent
reading and understanding the poem.
1. -Related to
Children’s Time:
In this poem we can easily discover words
related to “time”:
…an endless time…
…summer…
…past…
…reality…
…endlessly…
…take forever…
…the water first…
I can also include here the conception of
time, mainly the conception of “past”, taking into account that everyone
reading it possibly reminds a distant childhood, and get identified with the
child represented in the poem.
2. - Related to
the time the author spent doing the poem
I don’t actually know how much time did she
spent writing the poem but taking into account that
she
took 3 months to work on Disappearing Rain,
and that Children's time is a shorter piece we can deduce more or less that she
worked less time in Children’s Time than in other larger hypertexts.
Shorter or
larger, Children’s time is a brilliant work.
3. -Related to the time I have spent reading and
understanding the poem
I have
read the poem a lot of times to do this paper, and it doesn’t take more than 5
or 6 minutes to read, but when we try to understand every single word the
author has written, I could say that I’ve been reading it for more than 30
minutes, maybe less, to understand what she was trying to transmit as correctly
as I could.
It is
interesting because the kanji form of the poem made me imagine the child in all
the circumstances she explained.
