Charmin’Clearly________________________________________Presentation
This
talk about the aspect the hypertext presents. That is how it is exposed in the
web to attract the readers, because for a web it is important the aspect, as it
is easier to read or to see something that is attractive for the eyes.
The
first appearance of Charmin’ clearly web, and the style that predominates
through the whole story, is a blue text on a
white background which makes it easy to read. Then we have a division of
the story in three different parts that give the choice to the reader to start
reading whatever they like more. This means that, the author has created three links with
different narrators to tell the story in a distinct way that make it better to
understand. The first one is the version of the main character, Charmin, which
is called: ‘Her
Story’, then we have the story of professor Blat: ‘His
Story’, and finally: ‘The Other Guy’s’ is where the opinions of the
rest of the people are, that means the teachers, the students, parents, etc. As
a result of clicking on that links you can start reading the version you
prefer. Another distinction is that each story has the first capital letter in
a different color, H-H-T,
so you know at all time which narrator are you following.
However,
the thing that I was more impressed by was the fact that, depending on where
paragraph you click on it can takes you to a different story. For example, if
you go to ‘Her
Story’ and after reading the first page, you click at the first paragraph,
the link will take you through Charmin’ story, but if you click on the second
paragraph, you will go linked to ‘The Other Guy’s’ story because that piece of
paragraph relates to the opinion of the other people. And the same happens if
you go to the third paragraph but this time you will go to ‘His Story’ (check it out by
yourself). At the beginning this is hard to understand because you could
feel that you are not following the story, but quickly you realize what its happening. That is the greatness of the hypertext; you
can follow the story you want to. Another thing to mention is that there is
other link impossible to see, because it has no color with the white
background, and if you click there it is possible to go back to the index of the
story and choose another story teller.
