We can include here one of the characters of Dickens´novel ´Hard Times´, Stephen Blackpool. He is one of the inhabitants of the industrial city of Coketown. About him Dickens writes: “Stephen (...) could look an uncommonly intelligent man to his social class. However he wasn´t. He was a good weaver and surely a honest man” (chapter X). However in ´Hard Times´ we can see that the poor and the rich have the same importance in the novel, as we can see along the chapter XI, in which Stephen asked his boss, Mr. Bounderby, if he could obtain the annulment of his marriage.
