FIRST PAPER
Subject: # 14217
Poesía Inglesa de los siglos XIX y XX Grupo A.
Student´s name: López Marqués, Marlén.
Title of the paper: William
Blake: The Two Contrary States of the Human Soul.
Author or topic: William Blake (1757-1827)
Abstract: This paper will
talk about William’s Blake poem “The Chimney Sweeper” (from Songs of Innocence
in 1789) and I will try to explain what are the main differences between this
version and the later from Songs of Experience . The
poems are both similar in subject with Blake using `The Chimney Sweep" in
both to emphasise the miserable urban life of a chimney sweep during the
industrial revolution. The two poems are also similar in which they are being
told from a child's point of view display one important difference. In the
`innocence' poem the child is unaware of the implications that the story he is
telling beholds. In "experience" the child is a streetwise child of
the slums creating a darker tone. In both `innocence' and `experience' we can
see the contrast of each revealing the story of a chimney sweep.
Auto-evaluation: I consider I have worked enough for
the preparation of my papers and I hope to get a 5.
