OVERVIEW

The structure shows us three categories where the author has packed small-sized tales concerning the subject of the experiences of the main character. As heading we observe a blotted and crossed out address that might signify the rejection of the paper containing her Curriculum Vitae.

There is also “Education”, “Experience” and “Career Objective”. Inside each of them there are links connecting to more descriptive explanations that the sole line does not inform sufficiently. When we enter into them we learn about some needful aspects that she conceals in public, not appropriate to show on a CV. Outwardly, the employment history seems fine and immaculate, but when inspecting in depth there is much more to read.

Here, we might see as opposites the main terms “education” and “experience”. Separating them, the author conceives a distinct field of meaning, organizing the life into pre-experiences (education), the preparation for life, and experiences themselves. It lasts to comment “Career objective”, as it is the mentioning of the future, the plans that lead the character from educating herself to working. Nevertheless, experiences count towards a new job: better working requires recommendations, so she exhibits her past in order to achieve a goal in her future: “something that lasts”.

Albeit we see the noticeable amount of jobs she has obtained, there is no expression of her actual academic studies, and only references to a research which purpose is not included in the CV page, so there is an intention of drawing the attention towards other matters, even breaking up the assumed CV structure.

Returning to the oppositions, the hierarchy shows itself in this formulation: whereas there might be better media to comunicate one's life experiences, the author choses a CV structure, limiting it to the education the character has received, the jobs and tasks she has been into, and the goals. Schematizing this way brings out the important issues in society. What is not mentioned exists secondarily (concepts like family, partnership, happiness), although it really exists inside the core of the work, not being offered in the presentation line for each tale. Hierarchy consists in what society demands of her and she pretends to achieve.

To conclude, we will reassert our analysis by studying in depth each text and summarizing the story.
