Jackie Craven is a widely published writer who specializes in architecture, home design, and cultural travel. She writes the Architecture pages for
About.com, a New York Times Digital Company. (View demographics.)
Her travel features have been published in major newspapers in the United States and Canada. She has also written extensively for
House & Garden magazine, Realtor Magazine, and numerous other publications. She is the author of The Healthy Home and
The Stress-Free Home (Rockport Publishers).
A former teacher, Jackie Craven a holds a
Doctor of Arts in English from the State University of New York at Albany. She
became fascinated
by 19th century architecture when she purchased
her first Victorian house in 1984. Over the years, she renovated several old
buildings
on her street and established a rental business
specializing in attractive apartments in historic neighborhoods.
Jackie Craven lives in a restored
turn-of-the-century cottage. She was twice awarded by the Schenectady Heritage
Foundation
and currently serves on the Schenectady
Historic Commission.
