1660- Daniel Defoe is born in London, son of James Foe.

1671-1679- Attends Dissenting Academy of Charles Morton.

1683- Establishes himself as a hosiery merchant in London.

1684- Marries Mary Tuffley.

1685- Fights in Duke Monmouth Rebellion.

1685-1692- Active as a wholesale merchant in hosiery trade, but also deals with tobacco, wine, and other goods.

1688- Supports the revolution against James II.

1692- First Bankruptcy.

1697- Writes An Essay upon Projects.

1697- 1701- Political Agent for William III in England and Scotland.

1701- Writes The True-Born Englishman.

1702- Writes The Shortest Way With Dissenters which was a satiric pamphlet on High Church Extremists.

1703- Arrested for The Shortest Way, second bankruptcy.

1703-1714- Secret Agent and political journalist for Robert Harley and other ministers.

1704-1713- Writes the Review, a periodical appearing 3 times a week.

1713-1714- Arrested for debt and then publishing 3 controversial pamphlets.

1715- Writes The Family Instructor.

1719- Robinson Crusoe.

1720- Memoirs of a Cavalier, Captain Singleton, Serious Reflections... of Robinson Crusoe.

1722- Moll Flanders, Religious Courtship, A Journal of the Plague Year, Colonel Jack.

1724- Roxana, A Tour thro' the Whole Island of Great Britain.

1725- The Complete English Tradesman.

1726- The Political History of the Devil.
