One
of the most important interpretations and accepted by most of the studies
that I´ve read is that concerning parracide. This second reading
has already been undergone in fantastic literature, for example in the
famous fairy tales where yong maidens were kidnapped by Dragons (that represent
the figure of an evil father) unlater had to be freed by a young Knight
in armer (figure of the son) after killed the Dragon (the dethroning of
the father by his son). In the same real life some cultures named ass "primitives"
have a ritual slaughter where the youngest menbers of the tribes killed
and devoured the father to have all that they wanted.
In
this novel, this representation would consist in a central autoritary figure
and dominant (Dracula) whose impose his norms and codes to those who are
around him including the women (the vampires that atack Harker, Lucy or
Mina) being the cause of all the characters frustration (Seward,Harker, etc.)
which in this case would be Dracula´s supposed children. The only
possibility for this pain to finish is the death of the tirane father (Dracula)
that can only be obteined with the union of all the group in order to destroy
such a powerful enemy. If we think about the great importance that patriarchal
figures had in victorian society this second reading we have produced becomes
more interesting.
