Another
of the interpretations that´s for me personnally turned out to be
more curious is that one that has to do with the death of his creator.
It seem that many critics want to see in Stoker´s death cause, sifilis,
the spark of a sickening creation of Dracula. According of those
critics, everything will begin after his only sons´birt: Noel. His
wife Florence, after giving birth, had to stop all sexual relation with
him, that many of these ascribed to arising frigidity. Stoker completely
needed of one of the primary human impulses, he had to start hangin around
brothels where he began to have sex with whores. Now is when the curious
part arises because, if this were true, there could be the possibility
that with one of these prostitutes be caught this sexual illness. That
would make his hatred towards everything which was femenine and more concretely
his vision of women as a body or carcass of lethal fluids, that´s
why in Dracula sexual elements will become something monstruous.
That would also explain the feeling of guiltyness and sexual frustruation
that many have wanted to see in him.
In
spite of possibility of the text becoming a parabole about sifilis and
vampirism as what will spark out the plague, nothing that what has been
speculated about Stoker is certain, maybe the author simply was worried
about something that had to do with those times, like nowadays AIDS problems
is what worries our world.
