Argument
The story focuses on a
brilliant and respectable woman called Marilyn who has 33 years old and works
as a lawyer. The story begins in an office where she exerts her job together
with her secretary, called Sally. During the time period when all the workers,
except Marilyn, go out for lunch, she always stays in for the load work. One
day, when she returned from outside she noticed a well dressed man but with
some old shoes, staying in front of her office. She felt sorry for him but in
the same time she felt attracted by him. In order to open a possible
conversation and to get to know him better she offered her aid. But the
stranger disappeared quickly without saying a word to her. And here subsist the
culminant point of this story, to say it somehow, because this mysterious man
turned out to be the thief of her purse. Although she dialed downstairs to the
security, the thief managed to get away with her valuable purse. After some
time, Marilyn receives various calls from the thief, confessing her that he is
actually a good person, with no bad thoughts for her, although he entered in
her own house in her absence. The only thing he needed was money and as a
result he gave to her the purse with all her things back. In the package, where
it was the purse, there was also a note saying ´´I AM SORRY´´ and inviting her
to go out with him on Saturday. The author does not reveal us if she will
accept or not the date, but ´´in a work of popular fiction Marilyn might go on
to marry this man, rehabilitate him through love´´.
