TITLE OF THE PAPER: Structuralism in literature

ABSTRACT OR SUMMARY OF THE RESEARCH:

By moving from thr study of language to the analysis of literature and seeking to define

the principles of structuralism that operate no only through individual works but through

the relationships among works over the field of literature, structuralism tries to establish

a scientific basis for literary studies.

In the analysis of a text contributes the study of the evolution of meaning through the passage

of time and how cultural and social conventions has contributed to its different interpretations.

Therefore, the concept of system generates the core of structuralism because adapts to new

conditions by transforming its features while retaining its semantic structure.

Finally, structuralism studies the relationships between individual works, literary genres and

the whole of literature as related systems and at literature as a system whithin the culture which

it is a part.
