TIME

The story begins in June and it finishes more or less two years later. To analyze the story I choose the first link that it is the next month of the month that I was reading.

Chronological order:

June: in his month Anthony remembered all of his friends and what happened with them.

July: in this month he began going to meetings with other alcoholics and there he met with Betsey.

August: Anthony began going out with ex alcoholics every night and also he went out with Betsey back to her house to talk and smoke.

September: they made plans for moving to a new house together.

October: they found a new house at St. Johns Wort and they travelled on boat at Montery Bay and Carmel.

November: (the same text if you choose July): he remembered the stories that the alcoholic anonymous told to other members.

October (2nd part): he comments the new life with Betsey.

November: he became into vegetarian and told how they went to Christian concerts

January: Betsey decided break off with Anthony because she accepted her grandmother’s offer. In the 2nd part of January is the first time that appear the name of the main character

March: he could make himself lean and more energy. He decided continue with the vegetarian diet.

October: he bumped into Ginnie Foot and convinced Ginnie to move in with him and they fall in love.

November: he tells his life with Ginnie.

April: he describes something greater than sex, the seventh chakra.

February: Ginnie left too and he rents a small apartment near People’s Park and found a job as a copyeditor.

April: he buys a house in Redwood City and thinks that all this people although he will never see again, it doesn’t make him feel bad.

I would like to mention the time of the verbs that appear in the story. Most of them are in past simple because the main character remembers the story and tells us, so the story is in the past. There are one sentence in present simple and other in future in all the text. The first sentence of the text is in present simple “this is not to be a list” and the other at the last month, April, “I’ll never see again but it doesn’t make me feel bad”
