CONCLUSION AND PERSONAL OPINION

The structure of  this Joseph Conrad's story -wich inspired the film "Apocalypse Now" by Francis Ford Coppola- uses the technique of the narration inside of the narration; the author, turned into listener, reproduces the  chronicle that Marlow, english boat's captain, does of his cruise across The Congo, seriously ill.The procedure allows, at the same time, to show the events with certainty, liveliness and immediately and to classify them from the memory's distance."HEART OF DARKNESS" is a story about J.Conrad's experience in his adventure across The Congo, as well as, an autobiography story. This book describes and  analyses the characters' emotions and motivations. Above them there's a tense moral reflection about loneliness and the men's fight against the forces of nature. Marlow represents the civilized life and social habits; Kurtz, on the other side, finishes defeated by the primitive, terrible and mysterious world wich surrounds him.
In my opinion, this book is quite good but there's an aspect that I don't like.Conrad does a lot of detailed descriptions, and this fact makes the story's rhythm very slow.
