In this web site you will
find the four papers that I have developed along this subject. They all have to
do with Shakespeare, and they all have to do with comedies. The Shakesperian
comedies I have studied in depth are "A Midsummer Night’s Dream",
"Twelfth Night", "Much Ado About Nothing" and "As You
Like It". I have mainly compared them either in their similarities or
their differences. I hope you enjoy it!
Papers:
ROBIN GOODFELLOW, THE TRUE PROTAGONIST OF "A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S
DREAM". A DEVIL OR A JOKER?
In this paper I have
discussed the differences between Shakespeare’s Robin Goodfellow and the
traditional character Elizabethans were familiar with. I have stated some of my
points about Puck’s motivation to manipulate, play tricks and confuse the other
characters around him. I have also dealt with the importance of his role within
the play, and, as the tittle points out, whether he is an unkind devil or an
inoffensive prankster.
PUCK, THE GREAT MANIPULATOR IN "A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM".
This is a short paper that
talks about manipulation and the way Puck manipulates other characters and the
way he is manipulated by them. I also discussed the social role he plays within
the play and the personal profit he takes from manipulating.
These two characters are a
joker and a jester, however they are very similar sometimes and extremely
different some others. This paper is aimed to discus those common and different
points.
Finally, this last paper
compares three of the comedies we have dealt with taking as the reference point
the topic of mistaken identities. I talked about the reasons why, specially
women, disguised theirselves and hide their identities for a while.
