INTRODUCTION |
Hi everybody! I want to propose you something for our theatre classes that you will really like for this year’s school festival: I want you to prepare a play!
Those of you who love acting will have the opportunity to show your talent to the rest of classmates and teachers.

|
|
TASK |
The topic of the play is free, so you can choose whatever you want to perform (but please, be responsible about that, there will be children watching the play…).
You are going to prepare the dialogues on your own, helped by the web pages I will provide you. Each character must speak at least 5 times. You are also going to design the setting and the props for the play.

|
|
PROCESS |
Follow these steps in order to success:
- Firstly you are going to decide about the topic and characters. Think about: what, where, when, who, why, etc.
- Secondly you are going to invent the dialogues. - Thirdly you will think about setting, costumes and props. - Fourthly you will show your work and after the necessary corrections you will start rehearsing. - Fifthly, and after having been preparing everything for 16 weeks….you will perform your play!

RESOURCES |

Here you have the resources I want you to use during the preparation of your play. Don’t become crazy looking for information on the internet, please, just stick to these webpages:
Firstly I want you to have a look at this webpage. It has seven useful tips that will help you to create a global idea of what I want you to do:
http://www.ehow.com/how_2045040_write-play.html
This web will help you starting with your script. You can choose the setting, the scenario and some of the characters. It will give you ideas and I think it is a good way to begin: http://www.innovationslearning.co.uk/subjects/english/activities/playscript/play_home.asp
Do not be alarmed about all the info you see in this web. I just want you to look at chapter 4 “Story Development” and chapter 12 “Dialogue Element”: http://www.playwriting101.com/
It is also important to focus on grammar. “Wordreference” is a good source: http://www.wordreference.com/es/

- Your capacity to work in group.
- The originality of dialogues, characters and setting. - The correctness of the script (according to grammar and vocabulary). - The coherence of information.

- Work in group and take important decisions.
- Look for information and examples about English drama.
